MADISON COUNTY-The identity of the victims in the earlier morning shooting on Brier Ridge Court today, Tuesday September 22 have been released.
A man, Karieem Robinson, 40 of New Jersey and a woman, Lashonda Smith, 32 of Decatur are dead of gunshot wounds and an eleven-year-old child is in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the head.
Investigators with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department say they responded to 911 call made near midnight which had been made made by the child. When deputies arrived at the home they found the 11-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound to the head and upon entering the home they also found the two adults dead.
Investigators say Smith shot Robinson and the child before turning the gun on herself and committing suicide.
A suicide note was found at the scene and it appears to have been written before the shootings by Lashonda Smith.
