HUNTSVILLE– The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a multi-vehicle crash that has taken the life of one person near Huntsville in Madison County:
“A multi-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, has claimed the life of a Gurley man.
The crash occurred when the 2010 Lincoln Navigator driven by Michael P. Whitt, 45, of Gurley, struck the 2018 Nissan Sentra driven by Jimmy M. Scott, 36, of Owens Cross Roads. After the initial impact, the Lincoln struck the 2019 Ford F-350 driven by Matthew L. Hickman, 19, of Huntsville. Whitt was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Hickman was injured and transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.
The crash occurred on U.S. 43 near Dug Hill Road, less than one mile south of Huntsville, in Madison County.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate. “
