Mullis M. Williams went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 14. She was 93 years old. Mullis was a preacher’s wife who spent her life dedicated to serving the Lord and serving others. She demonstrated her love through the hands she held, the necks she hugged, the meals she prepared and the warmth of her encouraging spirit. People were drawn to her because she was endlessly positive, kind and humble. She never had anything bad to say about anyone because she always looked for the best in everyone. Her husband Luke was a Church of Christ minister for 32 years, serving the Jones Chapel, Midway and Eva congregations. Luke was killed by a drunk driver in 1992. Mullis was heartbroken at the loss of her soulmate, but her faith never wavered.

Mullis was born May 4, 1922 in Cullman County to Isaac & Nervie Speegle. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Ardes Moore and Opal Rushing; brothers Cecil Speegle, Curtis Speegle, Herman Speegle and a baby brother Roger Speegle.

She is survived by a sister Hazel Rushing and brothers Dorman (Dorothy) Speegle, Duell (Gilda) Speegle; and Ray (Shirley) Speegle. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Cullman Funeral Home. There will be a visitation from 9:30-11:00am. Burial will be at Prospect Church of Christ.
