Motorcycle Accident Takes Life Of Florence Woman

FLORENCE-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a single-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle has taken the life of a Florence woman and sent another person to hospital:

“A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. Saturday, April 6, has claimed the life of a Florence woman.

Tammie J. Ivy, 54, was fatally injured when the 1993 Harley-Davidson motorcycle she was operating left the roadway, struck a ditch and then a tree. Ivy was pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger on the Harley-Davidson, Richard B. Barnes, 59, of Leighton, was injured and airlifted to Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville for treatment.

The crash occurred on Lauderdale County 19 near Kimbrough Lane, approximately 10 miles west of Florence, in Lauderdale County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
