DECATUR-The Decatur Police Department announce the arrest of one suspect on Chemical Endangerment Of A Child on Tuesday, October 27:
“SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:
On September 1st 2015, Sydney Joann Crowe gave birth to a baby boy at Decatur Morgan Hospital. At the time of the infant’s birth he tested positive for Methadone. A joint investigation was conducted by the Morgan County Department of Human Resources as well as the Decatur Police Department.
At the conclusion of the investigation it was determined that Sydney Crowe had smoked/ingested Narcos and Percoset during her pregnancy, fully aware that she was pregnant at the time.
On October 19th 2015, Det. Jarrod Birchfield obtained a warrant for the arrest of Kayla Lashea Tallent on the charge of Chemical Endangerment of a Child.
On October 27th 2015, Officer Jordan Pace located Sydney Crowe. She was booked into the Decatur City Jail where she was arrested and charged with Chemical Endangerment of a Child.
She was transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $2,500.00 bond.
It is unknown at this time if the child will suffer any long term effects or disabilities as a result of the drug exposure.”
