In the morning hours of June 10, 2022, at the Tuscaloosa Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Moses departed from his earthly home to his heavenly resting place.

Moses was born April 12, 1955, to the late Rev. Mack and Portis West. He committed his life to Christ at an early age. He joined Mt. Zion #2 CME Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Kirsey. Moses continued to attend church until his health failed.

Moses was known for his compassion and loving heart. He befriended all he met. The word stranger was not in Moses’ vocabulary. He loved living on the land that used to house his childhood home.

Moses adored his grandchildren. He made time to visit with them to absorb their love and laughter.

Moses attended Ada Hanna School from primary school to 1968. Then, he continued his education at Hamilton High School. He graduated in 1973.

Moses worked at Continental Conveyor, Winfield, AL; Federal-Mogul (NTN Bower), Hamilton, Al; Alabama State Hwy Dept., Hamilton, Al; Great America Adventure Park, Wisconsin; Mueller Brass Company, Fulton, MS; and South Ridge, Hamilton, AL.

Moses enlisted in the National Guard and later served in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged.

Moses leaves to cherish his everlasting memories with his son, Nicholas (Jennifer) West of Mobile, AL.; Two grandchildren: Mason and Palon West; Two brothers: David (Joyce) West, Huntsville, AL.; Joseph (Margaret) West, Greenville, AL.; Four sisters: Wilma West of Huntsville, AL.; Mary Lucrecy West, Montgomery, AL.; Ruthie (Gerry) Whitman, Hamilton, AL; and Martha West-Crump, Hamilton, AL. He also leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Moses is preceded in death by his parents Rev. Mack David and Mrs. Portis West, and brother, James Clay West.

Services will be Friday, June 17, 2022 at 1:00pm from the Mt Zion Methodist Church in the Bexar Community with burial in the Hamilton Memory Gardens.
