“According to reports from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department the Morgan County Drug Task Force makes another drug bust. Here is What Sheriff Ana Franklin has to say:On Friday, January 17, 2014, the Morgan County Drug Task Force went to 236 Ironman Road to conduct a follow up. The homeowner, Melissa Lynne McCurley, 50, was arrested by Hartselle Police on Sunday for Illegal Possession of Prescription Pills and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Drug agents made contact with McCurley at her residence and observed marijuana in plain view. As agents were in the house, McCurley produced a screwdriver and tried to stab herself in the stomach. Deputies deployed a taser in an attempt to restrain her. Deputies were able to get the screwdriver away from her.
Agents secured a search warrant signed by Judge Howell and executed it on the residence. During the search, agents discovered that the residence was in horrible living conditions with cat feces everywhere. Agents also discovered that Ms. McCurley’s 13 yr-old son lived there. Agents contacted Morgan County DHR.
Agents located more marijuana along with items used in the manufacturing process of methamphetamine. Agents located meth, acid, lye, cold packs, fuel, and lithium batteries.
Agents contacted Hartselle Fire and Rescue along with Oak Ridge VFD to decontaminate McCurley. DHR removed the child from the home.
Ms. McCurley was charged with Unlawful Manufacturing a Controlled Substance 1st, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st, and Felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.”
