Mrs. Monteen Murdock Fortson, age 87, of Boaz, died on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Huntsville Hospital.
A graveside service will be held at 2’oclock pm on Friday, January 16, 2026, in the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Mike Goforth and Bro. Max Roden officiating. There will not be a formal visitation at this time, however, a memorial service and visitation will be held at a later date at the Sardis Baptist Church.
Mrs. Fortson was born in Boaz, Alabama on March 29, 1938, to Earnest Patton & Elizabeth Jenkins Murdock. She was a salesclerk for Ratliffs and Bob’s Men’s Wear. She was a member of Sardis Baptist Church.
Mrs. Fortson is survived by her Husband: Royce Fortson of Boaz, Sons: Jeffrey R. & Angie Fortson of Trussville and David A. & Sonya Fortson of Tennessee, Daughter: Deborah & Mike Wilson of Alabaster, 5 Grandsons and 2 Granddaughters, 8 Great Grandchildren, Sisters: Linda Braswell of Boaz and Glenda & Sonny Lacey of Sardis. She was preceded in death by her parents: Earnest & Elizabeth Murdock, Sister: Evelyn Claburn and Brother: Bill Murdock.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to Gideon’s International.
