Mr. Monte Gene Wilks, age 72, passed away early Wednesday at his home near Lexington. He was born January 3, 1951 in Milan to the late Virgil Wilks and Mary Lou Webb Grissom. Mr. Wilks was retired from Lexington Electric System and a member of Mazies Chapel Baptist Church. His greatest joy was following his grandson, Parker, playing football.
Mr. Wilks was preceded in death by one sister, Sandra Johnson and one brother, Darren Wilks. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Debbie Wilks; his son, Michael Wilks (Kim); his grandson, Parker Wilks; sister, Kim Weaver; step-brother, Randy Williams (Ann); step-mother, Etta Wilks; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 AM, Friday, October 27, 2023, in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Lexington. Interment will follow in Mt. Gilead Cemetery in the Shady Hill Community. The family will receive friends on Thursday, 11 AM – 9 PM and on Friday, 9 AM – time of service at 11 AM.
