Mona Moorer passed away peacefully on the morning of March 18, 2023. Mona was born October 11, 1928, in Hartselle, AL. She attended and was a 1948 graduate of Athens High School. She attended Florence State Teacher’s College, now University of North Alabama. She was employed at Redstone Arsenal in the Finance and Accounting department and retired after forty years of service.

Mona then became an active volunteer and board member at the Arc of Madison County. She held the offices of Treasurer and Secretary for many years. Mona received the Arc of Alabama Volunteer of the year and was recognized in Montgomery, AL. She was a constant presence at the Arc and a friend to all she met.

Mona was a member of First Baptist Church in Huntsville. She loved the Lord and was a true believer. Her other passions included shopping, being outside on sunny days and spending time with friends and family.

Mona was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Legg White, father, William McKinley White, brother, William Legg White, sisters, Bessie White Holland and Margaret White Boudreau and son, Michael Baxter Moorer.

She is survived by her son, Barry Alan Moorer and his wife, Jeanne; grandchildren, Ashley Alan Moorer (Leslie), Christopher Andrew Moorer (Reba) and Molly Slaten Moorer; step grandchildren, Anna Vojticek Harrison (Troy), David Michael Vojticek (Haley) and Markie Jean Nelson; a multitude of great grandchildren; sisters, Joy White Trousdale and Joyce White Rheney; and brother, James Michael White (Carolyn).

Special thanks to Grace Residential Senior Living and Barbaralee Kyle for her loving care during our time of need.

A graveside visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 22 at Athens City Cemetery, followed by the interment at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Arc of Madison County or a charity of your choice.
