Mitzi Bracken Chappell, age 63, of Phil Campbell, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at North Alabama Medical Center.
Mitzi was born on April 01, 1961, in Rockford, Illinois to James Edward & Betty Bracken. She struggled for years with Lupus. She was a very giving, sometimes stern, but fun-loving person. She was the only daughter in her family, but she always could be tough like the boys. She was always prayerful for anyone who came to mind and always had time to sit and talk with someone, especially if it included a cup of coffee. Mitzi was the most thoughtful person, she was always willing to help, and always concerned about the other person’s privacy. If you told her a secret, it was safe with her. She had a real flair for writing poetry and short stories. No one was more precious than she was, and her family will treasure her memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Edward & Betty (Phelan) Bracken; brother, Steve Bracken; and nephew, Brandon Bracken.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Michael Chappell; brothers, James Edward Bracken (Pam), Danny W. Bracken (Adrienne), Sean A. Bracken (Michele); nieces & nephews, Kali, Kyle, Kristopher, Rachel, Alex, Madelyn; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The visitation will be 12:00 noon – 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2024, at Spry Memorial Chapel, Russellville, Alabama. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Bro. Sammy Taylor officiating the service. The burial will be at Blue Springs Cemetery in Phil Campbell, Alabama.
