Mitchell Louis Wallace 57 of Muscle Shoals died Friday, May 11, 2018. A graveside service at Shoals Memorial Gardens will be Monday, May 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Ronnie Poag and Rev. Randy Burbank officiating.

Mitchell was the most fun loving and humorous person one would ever meet. He never met a stranger. Within 5 minutes of meeting Mitch for the first time, you would feel like you had known him all your life. He was a natural born athlete. No matter what sport he was playing, he excelled at it. His true love was baseball. He was a left handed pitcher and had a natural curve ball that would drive batters crazy. While playing high school baseball as the star pitcher, his coach informed the players that if they wanted to play on the baseball team then they would also have to play on the football team. Mitch really didn’t want to play football so he taught himself to punt. He ended up being so good at it that he was scouted by Johnny Majors the coach of the Tennessee Volunteers. Mitch told Coach Majors that he would not be playing football in College. Mitch went on to earn full scholarships at Calhoun College and the University of North AL. Not having the current pitching limitations in place today, Mitch was over used and suffered a career ending injury to his arm. His Father Arthur and Mother Colleen had opened a small restaurant that featured their own recipes for New Orleans cuisine. Mitch went to work at the family restaurant and learned the art of cooking and preparing fine food. Years later, when his parents decided to retire, Mitch re-opened the same restaurant in Sheffield. He later relocated to Muscle Shoals. Mitch enjoyed over 30 years of success and sharing his love of Louisiana Cajun style foods with his customers.

Mitch was preceded in death by Grand Parents Louis and Jimmi Garrity, Arthur and Clara Wallace, Father Arthur Joseph Wallace and Brother Keith John Wallace.

He is survived by Mother Colleen Garrity Wallace and Brother Scott Arthur Wallace and wife, Jackie.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or First Methodist Church in Sheffield.
