Mr. Mitchell Daniel (Dee) Carter, 83, of Scottsboro, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 21, 2019, surrounded by family.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Gary Swords officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home and then on Thursday, July 25, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. until time of service.
Dee served in the US Army for 2 years. He had a life-long career working with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #320. He was a member of Pine Island Baptist Church and Scottsboro Masonic Lodge #359.
Dee is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Bonnie Carter; sons, Mark (Angie) Carter and Mike Carter; grandchildren, Cassie (David) Merriman, Jessica (Rusty) Varner, Daniel (Sarah) Carter, Colby (Kristen) Gann, and Heath Carter; great grandchildren, Carly Whitehead, Isobel Merriman, Penelope Merriman, Elizabeth Merriman, Brock Varner, Aaden Varner, Cameron Dee Varner, Atchley Carter, and Hudson Carter; and many loving nieces, nephews, and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Jackson and Cora Viola Carter; sisters, Sarah Allen, Lizzy Mae Garland, Corley Campbell, Louise Smith, and Jane Cleveland; brothers, Bernice Carter, Claude Carter, Levis Carter, and George (Junior) Carter.
