Mitchell Bennett, Jr. passed away on August 8, 2022 from natural causes at 79 years of age.
He worked in the factories in Humboldt for 45 years, starting to work in 1962 on the production line at Century Electric and soon became a Tool Designer. He took a leave of absence in 1968 and completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering at Tennessee Tech in 1971. He stayed in the electric motor business until 1979 holding jobs of Tool Designer, Engineer, Production Manager, and Engineering Manager.
He moved to Anderson Clayton in 1979 as Engineering & Maintenance Manager and stayed with Kraft, AC Humko, and ACH Foods as Engineering & Maintenance Manager until his retirement in 2007.
In retirement, he did some consultant work, but mainly followed his hobby of woodworking.
He was preceded by his parents, Mitchell and Helen Bennett.
He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Barbara Hasty Bennett and twin daughters, Michele Bennett Walton of Spartanburg, South Carolina and Melanie Bennett Overton of Milan, Tennessee.
Visitation will be held at Shelton-Hunt Funeral Home in Humboldt from 2:00 to 3:00 on Thursday, August 11, with the funeral to follow at 3:00 pm. Graveside service will be held at Center Baptist Church on the Edison Frog Jump Road between Edison, TN and Frog Jump, TN, following the funeral.
