Missing Swimmer Identified….Search Continues Today

Drowning-jpgWATERLOO-The search continued on Tuesday, September 6 for a man who jumped from a pontoon boat and was swimming and never came back to the surface.

The search resumed at 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday in Pickwick Lake for the missing swimmer.  George Grabryan said crews continue the search to try to locate the man in a large area of the lake.  The area near  Yellow Creek, which is close to where Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi meet on the river.

Senior Trooper Johnathan Appling the public relations officer with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency identified the swimmer as Nicolas Jeremy Smith of Memphis, Tennessee.

The recovery search was called off at dark Tuesday and will resume on Wednesday morning.
