Miriam “Mim” Reynolds Keat, 74, of Huntsville died Sunday at Huntsville Hospital of lymphoma. She first contracted lymphoma in 2012, and after chemotherapy was in remission until 2018. She then struggled valiantly for a year through a second chemotherapy. Sadly this last chemotherapy was unsuccessful.

Mim was born in Lexington, KY on February 19, 1945. She was the eldest of four children of Dr. Dallas and Lorene Reynolds. She was a graduate of Huntsville High School in 1963, Vanderbilt University in 1967 and later earned a graduate degree from UAH. Mim married John Keat in Huntsville on December 9, 1983. She worked for the Corps of Engineers and US Army TMDE at AMCOM on Redstone Arsenal. Mim retired with her husband in 2007 to design and build a house.

She was a dedicated jogger and fitness enthusiast in younger years. It was this fitness that brought her to the attention of her future husband. She was a SCUBA diver in middle years. Diving led her to remote, unspoiled islands and wonderful trips with her husband. She was a dog agility competitor in later years. Training and competing with her beloved Miniature Schnauzers, Sophie and Pauli, in agility provided much happiness for Mim. She developed many friendships with similar-minded people at the Huntsville Obedience Training Club.

Mim was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 35 years and three siblings: Ann (Vick) Speed of Atlanta, John (Louise) Reynolds and Dr. James (Laura) Reynolds, both of Huntsville.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 27th at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. Mim will be cremated and buried at Maple Hill Cemetery
