Milton "Mick" Lamons Milton Edwin Lamons, 85, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. Milton was born May 29, 1938, to Olena Lamons in Lee County. He spent a lifetime demonstrating the values of hard work, faith, and family.

Mick spent the majority of his working years as a tube mill operator for Krueger Metal in Tupelo, where he dedicated 38 years. After retiring, Mick’s hands were still not idle. He had a knack for fixing things around the house, and took pride in his handyman skills.

Mick was a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church. His devotion to God was evident in the way he lived his life and treated those around him. Reading his Bible was a daily ritual for Mick.

While Mick found purpose in his work and faith, his greatest joy in life was his family. He was a loving husband, dedicated father, and adoring grandfather and great-grandfather. He was married to the love of his life, the late Luannis Lamons, for fifty beautiful years until the time of her passing. Mick cherished every moment he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He leaves behind one daughter, Patricia Hyland and her husband, W. L. of Oxford; two grandchildren, Alan Hyland and his wife, Mary of Houston, Texas, and Adam Hyland and his wife, Lindsey of Dallas, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Collier Hyland and Charlotte Grace Hyland; and one brother-in-law, Robert Helms of Saltillo.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife; his mother; and four brothers, Junior, David, Wayne, and Jimmy Lamons.

Visitation will be 12 p.m. until service time Monday, September 18, 2023 at Pegues, Tupelo.

Services honoring his life will be 2 p.m. Monday, September 18, 2023 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues with Rev. Frank Panzrino officiating. Graveside services will follow at Andrews Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Alan Hyland, Adam Hyland, Jason Hyland, Jacob Hyland, Chuck Collier, Rick Sexton, Terry Wheeler, and Mark Baker.

Collier Hyland will serve as honorary pallbearer.
