Milton was born on February 11, 1941 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Derrel and Lona Bell Key. Later on, the family moved to Pleasantfield where he spent almost his entire life on the farm. Being one of four brothers provided plenty of material for countless stories of time spent running the hillsides and wading the creekbands near his home.
Milton joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany in 1960. There he met his wife Anna. They were married for sixty years and raised three children. Milton was a retired mechanic from the Alabama Power Company. He loved the freedom that retirement gave him and his wife. They spent many years traveling to the beach in their RV. Fishing, Ford trucks and Bama football ranked as some of his favorite things. Milton was a faithful member of Pleasantfield Baptist Church, which he deeply loved, along with everyone in it.
Like an old oak tree on a creek bank, he could be stubborn. But much like that oak tree, stubbornness comes from tough times and deep roots. Seasons of life are not always kind, but deep roots keep us planted and stand through even the toughest of times. Milton’s faith was rooted in the Lord.
Milton is survived by his son Brian (Stacie) Key and his daughter Karen (David) Ferry. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Brandon Key, Wesley Key, Ashley Key, Emily Key, Abby Key & Natalie Ferry.
