Miller Sproull Weatherly, 85, passed away after a short illness on Sunday, December 1, 2019. He was born in Anniston, Alabama on August 28, 1934.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Jean Bagley Weatherly; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Clay (Virginia Sproull) Weatherly; and brothers, William Henry Weatherly, and James Clay Weatherly, Jr.
Miller is survived by daughters, Virginia Weatherly Stephens (Julian) and Charlotte Weatherly Wessel (John); along with three grandchildren, Miller Wesley Stephens (Rachel), Virginia Lochlin Wessel, and Frederick Miller Wessel.
A 1952 graduate of Anniston High School, he also attended Darlington School in Rome, Georgia. While at the University of Alabama, he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.
Miller was the president of Interstate Chemical Company and Anniston Mortgage Company. He served on the Board of Directors of Anniston Federal Savings and Loan. He was also a member of the Anniston Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club. He was a member of Anniston First United Methodist Church and a former member of First Presbyterian Church, Anniston where he served as an elder.
Miller was also an avid golfer and card player. He had several holes-in-one and shot his age several times in his later years. Miller loved University of Alabama sports and spending time with his family.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 5 at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Cemetery in Anniston. A lunch visitation for family and friends will follow at Anniston Country Club.
