A Graveside Funeral service and Interment for Mildred Vest Blackwood, 94, will be Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Salem Community Cemetery with Bro. Barry Moley officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 10:00 AM until service time at Salem Community Church.
Mrs. Blackwood passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025 at NHC Healthcare. She was born May 29, 1930, in Morgan County, to William Ernest Vest and Ada Wallace Vest. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer “Cotton” Blackwood, and her parents. She was the youngest of seven brothers and three sisters, all of whom preceded her in death.
She was a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), for 25 years, retired from Hartselle Medical Center, where she assisted in the delivery of many babies. During her retirement, she could usually be found fishing at the lake, which she enjoyed very much. She was a great football fan, especially Alabama Football. She deeply loved her family, was a fantastic cook and enjoyed making delicious meals for them.

Lynn Blackwood.

Karen Sandlin (Mikey),
and Emily Hayes (Chris).

Michael Driggers (Kayla),
Taylor Phillips (Coltin),
Justin Driggers (Haley),
Preston Phillips,
Maddie Hayes,
Hayley Berlanga,
Payton Hoover, and
Natalie Hoover.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Blackwood, Mike Blackwood, Lynn Blackwood, Michael Driggers, Justin Driggers, and Preston Phillips
