Mildred Swint Deeson (78) of Huntsville passed away Monday, September 2 at Huntsville Hospital.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Nellie and James Milton Swint of Augusta Georgia, brothers James Swint, Thomas Swint, and Robert Murphy, sisters Edna Thigpen and Eloise Pendrey, as well as by her dog Rascal who was her loyal companion for 13 years.
She is survived by a brother, William Swint of Augusta, daughters Lisa (Ted) Glaser of Nashville Tennessee, Kelly Barron of Huntsville, sons Allen Deeson of Gadsden and David Deeson of Huntsville and by her grandson Nik Barron, also of Huntsville.
Mildred was born in McBean, Georgia and grew up in and around Augusta, Georgia. She traveled the U.S. as an army wife before settling in Huntsville where she raised her family.
Mildred was known by many as the fabric and craft department manager at the Drake Avenue Walmart where she worked until her retirement in 2006. She had been an avid crafter and a voracious reader, as well as an animal lover who doted on her granddogs and grandcats.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 6 from 3 pm until 5 pm at the Berryhill Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the The Ark animal shelter at 139 Bo Cole Road in Huntsville.
