Mildred Rupil Barnes Mildred Rupil Barnes, 90, of Fort Payne, passed away Monday, March 24, 2025 at her home. She was born January 9, 1935 in Glen Alum, West Virginia, to the late Marion Rupil and Neda Belle Green Rupil. She was a registered nurse for over 44 years. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Fort Payne for over 50 years. She loved her family, her church, nursing and caring for others, the Atlanta Braves, and her cats.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Wilson Funeral Home with Dr. Marshall Henderson and Dr. Pat McFadden officiating and a special presentation by the Nursing Honor Guard. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. hour of service.

She is survived by her children Ames Yokel (Walt), Caroline Gentry (Terry), David Barnes (Denice), and Neda Goggans (Jody); grandchildren Chris Rodriguez-Lopez, wife Faith and their children Chris Jr., Isaiah, Nayelli, and Angel, Cassie Murdock, Ethan Barnes, wife Jessi and their children Emmett, Tyson, and John Bryant, Justin Gentry (Forrest), Dalton Veal, wife Ashlea and their children Addie and Kase, Kaitlyn Ryan (Lynus), and Nathan Gentry, wife Sydney and daughter Bea, Giles Yokel, wife Ginnette and their children Andrew and August, and Pete Yokel, wife Jennifer and their children Skye, Sam, and Eleanor; brother Kenneth Rupil and wife Delilah; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother Bill Rupil and wife Rita, her sister Lois Horton, and her parents Marion and Neda Rupil.

Wilson Funeral Home and Crematory of Fort Payne is in charge of arrangements.
