Mildred Garner Chapman, age 97, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Athens Health and Rehabilitation in Athens, Alabama.

She was born October 10, 1927, in Limestone County, Alabama, to the late Roy Clifford Garner and Myrtle Bassham Garner. Mildred dedicated 45 years of service to the Tennessee Forestry Department before retiring.

She was married to Ralph Chapman for 41 years until his passing. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Dotson, her brother, Marvin Garner, and her parents.

Mildred is survived by her sister, Alice Daniel of Baker, Louisiana; sister in law, Marianne Knight of Florence, Alabama; two grandchildren; several great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who will lovingly remember her.

She was a member of Bluff Springs Church of Christ. Mildred enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking. She especially found joy in sharing her talents and time with family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at Gills Chapel Cemetery in Lewisburg, Tennessee, on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 11:00 am with Mark Johnson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or to your favorite charity in her memory.
