Ms. Mildred Elaine Turner Ogg, 90, died Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Montgomery Gardens Assisted Living in Starkville, following a brief illness. She was a lifetime resident of Okolona, born July 5, 1926 to Allen Charles Turner and Gola Aston Turner. She was a graduate of Egypt High School and continued to study, receiving her nursing degree. She was married to Roy Frank Ogg who died December 25, 2000. Mildred worked in the health care industry for many years to include Okolona Hospital and later retiring from Futorian Furniture Manufacturing as plant nurse. She was a quiet, gentle, and caring lady who adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her “GG”.
Mildred enjoyed cooking, sewing, needlepoint, crocheting, and gardening. She kept busy with her hands at all times. She was a longtime member of Okolona First Baptist Church.
A celebration of life service will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2017 in the Okolona Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Dr. Hal Selby officiating. A graveside service will follow at Boone’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to service time on Tuesday only.
Survivors include two brothers, Harold Turner (Loyce) and Ray Turner (Mazelle), all of Okolona; three sisters, Nell Johnson of Seattle, WA, Margaret Ware (Bill) and patsy Stevens (Fred), all of Okolona; one grandson, Brian Brasher (Heidi) of Starkville and one granddaughter, Lora Stallings (Scott) of Sturgis; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth “Ellie” Brasher, Gibson Brasher, and Judah Brasher.
Pallbearers will be Fred “Bud” Stevens, Bill Ware, Allen Turner, Buddy Mims, Lance Belcher, and Scott Stallings. Honorary pallbearers will be all the staff at Montgomery Gardens who tenderly cared for her the last seven years.
