Mildred Christine “Nonny” Pitt, 80, of Hillsboro, died on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at Lawrence Medical Center. She was born on October 8, 1934, to the late Dawson and Lucille Cottingham in Lawrence County. She was a retired Cafeteria Worker (East Lawrence) She was a member of Flower Hill Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be Friday, December 19, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Pitt Family Cemetery with G.W. Braidfoot, Caine Coffey, and J.T. Lowery officiating with burial to follow. Visitation will be tonight from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home.
She is preceded in death by her three brothers, Ray Cottingham, Ralph Cottingham, and John Cottingham; and her sister, Sara Neil Cottingham.
She is survived by her five sons, Judson (Kathy) Pitt, Joe (Patricia) Pitt, Gerald (Rose) Pitt, Jimmy (Ann) Pitt, and Jerome Pitt; five daughters, June (GW) Braidfoot, Sarah Dunlap, Wanda (Larry) Davis, Jeanette (Barry) Johnson, and Tammy (David) Jones; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Carl (Barbara) Cottingham, Dale (Sharon) Cottingham, Roger (Beth) Cottingham, and Dean Cottingham; three sisters, Irene Crawford, Jan (Keith) Hodge, and Glendora Towry.
Grandsons will be pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be great grandsons.
