Mildred C. Battles, age 95, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, in Augusta, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond R. Battles, her parents, and six brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her son, Ray Battles Jr. and his wife, Margaret. She is also survived by Wayne (Jerri) Cooner and nephew, Jimmy (Cindy) Cooner; grandchildren, Taylor, Russell, and Sarah Beth Battles; and nephew, Bradley Cooner.
Mrs. Battles was retired from Headstart in Colbert County, Alabama. She was a member of The Hill Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia and a former member of Ruhama Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Tuscumbia, and Huffman Baptist Church. She was always active in her church affiliations, was very outgoing and loved by all who knew her as she loved her family with a special place in her heart for her grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel with interment to follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends today from 6 until 8 p.m. at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel.
