Mildred Ada Nixson Spillers – Obituary

Mildred Ada Nixson Spillers, 87, of Florence, passed away February 18, 2016 at her residence. She was a Florence State graduate; a retired teacher of Central High School; and a member of the A.E.A. She had a great love for family and friends, gardening, and her wild birds.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 12-2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Park with Jim Underwood officiating.

Mrs. Spillers was preceded in death by her son, Norman Gale Spillers, Jr.; and brothers, Alvin, Zane, and Gilbert Nixson.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Norman G. Spillers, Sr.; sons, Jeff (Sharon), and Wayne Spillers (Carol); sisters, Kelsie Reece (Woodie), Mary Aycock (Billy Joe); grandchildren, Shawn, Chad, Shane, and Kristin Spillers, Casey Spillers Smith, and Katie Spillers; and great-grandchildren, Kyle and Drew Green, John Paul, Brooklyn, and Samuel Spillers.

Active pallbearers will be Jeff Spillers, Wayne Spillers, Shawn Spillers, Chad Spillers, Shane Spillers, and Joey Aycock.

Norman Spillers, Sr., Russell Nixson, and Dan Aycock will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to extend special thanks to two special friends; Linda Gravelee and Judy Darby.
