Miguel Cesar Diaz-Rivera, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and retired U.S. Army staff sergeant, passed away on April 30, 2024, in Harvest, Alabama, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 28, 1953, in Cayey, Puerto Rico, to Enrique Diaz-Colon and Olga Manola Rivera-Miguel.

Miguel’s life was one of service and dedication. He served honorably in the U.S. Army for over 20 years, retiring with the rank of staff sergeant. Following his military career, Miguel continued his service in a different capacity, dedicating himself to various Baptist churches until his battle with ALS.

He was a cherished husband to Valerie Lucier-Diaz for 43 years, and together they raised two sons, Miguel Seth (Greer) and Tony (Libby) who brought immense joy into their lives. Miguel was blessed with two wonderful daughters-in-law who became cherished members of the family. His six grandchildren, Isabela, Benaiah, Lena, Sofia, and Josiah were his pride and joy, with Blessing having already greeted him in heaven.

Miguel’s legacy extended beyond his immediate family, particularly to his spiritual daughter, Tariro. He impacted countless lives, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him. His unwavering faith and commitment to his beliefs were evident in every aspect of his life.

In times of hardship, Miguel’s family found solace and strength in the support of their extended family, church community, friends, and healthcare providers. The kindness and compassion shown by these individuals, as well as the VA and other medical professionals, will always be remembered and appreciated.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family kindly requests that you donate to the Alabama Chapter of the ALS Association, designated to the Crestwood ALS Clinic in Huntsville.

Please cherish your loved ones and create lasting memories together. Miguel believed that our time on earth is fleeting, but our memories and connections with others are eternal.

Miguel Cesar Diaz-Rivera will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy of love and service continue to inspire us all.
