Mickey Hendon, 56, of Florence, died Saturday, March 23, 2013, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Faith Church. The service will follow at 2:00 pm at the church with Brother Steve Huskey officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Mickey was a lifelong resident of Lauderdale County, a member of Fairview Baptist Church and was the owner of Hendon Septic Tank and Backhoe Service. He enjoyed watching sports, grilling on “The Patio” with close friends, and assisting those in his community in times of trouble and need. Mickey is preceded in death by his grandparents, Wilmer and Rachel Hendon and Hollis and Bessie Davis; and father-in-law, Jack D. Parker. He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, whom he adored, Angie Parker Hendon; his son Jake (Lesley) and his beloved granddaughter Blakely Jewel, all of Mountain Brook; his parents, Sonny and Dorothy Hendon; brother Ronnie (Donna); sisters Becky (Randy) Pickens, Barbara (John) Connors, Peggy Mabry, Suzy (Barry) Scott; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; Mother-in-Law, Kathleen Parker; Brother-in-law, Michael D. Parker; and godchildren Preslei and Garrett Williams of Huntsville. Pallbearers will be Ricky Agee, Steve Bevis, Steve Grissom, Joe Dale Harris, Kenneth Hayes, Robert James and Todd Jaroszewski. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The American Heart Association, UAB Hospital – Charity Care Program or; that you help a friend in need, or try to make a difference in the lives of others, as Mickey always strived to do.
