Mr. Michael Terry Hayes, age 63 of Ashland, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021 at the Clay County Hospital. A visitation will be held Friday, December 10, 2021 from 5:30 until 8:00 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville.
Mr. Hayes was born in Clay County where he had lived his most of his life. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp and was a strong hard working man that was always on the go. He ran Hayes Construction for some 38 years and was fortunate enough to work alongside his father and sons and others making it a true family run business. Michael loved his country, being outdoors, cutting his grass and sitting on the porch swing with his wife. Above everything else he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Jerrie Hayes of Ashland; daughter, Arley Hoppe (Jammey) of Ashland; two sons, Michael Terry Hayes, Jr of Munford and Joshua Dale Hayes (Ashley) of Barfield; eight grandchildren; C.J Hayes, Vincent Hoppe, Xoie Hayes, Gracie Hoppe, Joshua Hayes, Jaci Hayes, Jayden Wideman and Nakell McCormick; sisters; Gale Smith of Ashland, Dale Hale of Texas, Karen Hope (Bill) of Coldwater and Betty Richardson (Carlton) of Cullman; brother, Jimmy Hayes (Debbie) of Fayetville; several nieces and nephews and other family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman Allen Hayes and Willie Maude Wolfe Hayes, and his brother Jerry Wayne Hayes.
Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville is in charge of the arrangements.
