Michael Stephen “Fuzzy” Bates, 62, passed away Wednesday. He fought cancer with a brave face for almost two years.
Mike was blessed with wonderful childhood friends who brought love and joy to every season of his life. He was an Alabama alumnus with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration. He worked in the electronic manufacturing industry for over 35 years at SCI, MGV and Avex/Benchmark Electronics, and he loved his coworkers. Mike served on SCI’s Annual Barbecue Picnic Committee and was Treasurer of the SCI Golf League. He was a lover of all things Alabama and athletics.
Mike was a loving husband to Nancy Bates for almost 30 years, and a proud father to Jessica and Stacey Bates. He was a selfless provider and loved his family more than anything.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 16 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Friendship Baptist Cemetery in Danville.
