Obituary of Michael Ray Ponder Michael R. Ponder, born February 21, 1956, passed away on January 13th, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and genuine connection with others.

A devoted business owner and well-known within the community, Michael truly never met a stranger. He was full of life, quick with a smile, and always willing to lend a helping hand or take the time to listen. His presence made people feel seen and valued, and his generosity of spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

Michael took great pride in his work, not only for the success it brought, but for the relationships he built along the way. His integrity, work ethic, and compassion defined both his professional and personal life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Ponder; mother, Audrey Ponder; son, Eric (Taylor) Ponder; two cherished grandchildren, Jack and Greer Ponder; sister and brother-in-law, DeAnn and Walter Schafer; and a host of nephews and nieces.

Michael will be remembered for his warmth, his open heart, and the countless lives he touched. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit lives on through the love he gave, the lessons he taught, and the family and friends who carry his memory forward.

A visitation will be held at Moss-Service Funeral Home, located at 1901 2nd Ave North West, Cullman, AL, on January 17, 2026, from 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

The celebration of life funeral service will be held in the Moss service Funeral Home Chapel on January 18, 2026, starting at 2:30 pm.

 

Serving as Pallbearers, Rickey Peek, Wyles Griffith, Tommy Waldrop, Jimbo Waldrop, Brett Barker, David Butler, and Charlie Gandy.

Following the service, a graveside committal service will be held at East Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery, located at 1441 US-278 E, Cullman, AL, on January 18, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to East Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery and Cullman Regional Foundation.
