Michael Wesley Callahan Michael “Mike” Wesley Callahan, age 65, of Arab, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Cullman Regional. He was born November 2, 1955, to the late Harry and Earlene Callahan.

He graduated from J.B. Pennington High School in 1973. Once out of high school, he spent the next twenty years in the United States Army, where he rose to the rank of SFC. When he retired from the Army, he attended machinist school and later worked at Orchid until his second retirement. Michael loved fast cars and the majority of his cars/ trucks were no less than 1,000 horsepower. He was a huge car enthusiast.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Clifford Callahan; nephew, Brandon Cason; brother, Bruce Callahan; and brother-in-law, Curt Secor.

Survivors include his daughter, Christie Callahan; grandchildren, Claudia Griffin and Jacob Callahan; and five great-grandchildren; siblings, Anniece Secor, Bonnie (Jim) McLung, Alisa (Scott) Black, Curtis (Tammy) Callahan, and Bill (Tina) Callahan; a host of nieces and nephews; his best racing buddy, Jamie “Jumbo” Black; many more close friends; and his longtime friend, Mary Heit Powell.

A Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later date.
