Michael Jerry Mott, age 58, passed away on Tuesday February 25, 2026, from an extended illness. Michael was born on April 10, 1967. Michael was a truly social soul who could strike up a conversation with anyone. He never met a stranger and had a way of making people feel welcome and valued. Above all else, Michael loved his family, especially his grandchildren, who meant more to him than anything in this world. He was known for his signature fist bumps and his deep love for wolves and eagles. Generous to a fault, Michael would give anyone the shirt off his back without hesitation. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Michael was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Mott.
He is survived by his loving family, children; Brittany Mott, Tiffany Mott, Stephanie (James) Graham, Danielle Mott, Abigail Neely, Curtis Hodges, father; Jerry Wayne Mott, mother; Renee (Jr) Madewell, brothers; Mark (Sherrie) Mott, Timothy Mott, Jeffery Mott, grandchildren; Caydin Arnold, Korbin Parsons, Neveah Delong, Terry Delong, Knoxleigh Mott, Brinkley Gardenhire, Blake Graham, Faith Graham, James “JJ” Graham, Isabelle Mott, Kylee Neely, Cyrus Neely, Emmy Neely, Anniken Hodges, Astrid Hodges, Abel Hodges, nephew; Brandon Mott, niece; Rachel Jones, great-nephews; Morrison Mott, Daniel Mott, great-niece; Kylie Mott. A large extended family and a host of friends also survive.
Visitation will be held at Layne Funeral Home on Friday February 27, 2026, from 9:00am until 4:00pm. Michael’s chosen method of disposition is cremation. He will be cremated after visitation.
