FLORENCE-Watercolor artist from Birmingham, AL Michael Davis is presenting a solo exhibition of landscapes at Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts August 17 through September 28. Southern Scapes are watercolor paintings representative of the most colorful aspects of the American Southern landscape that evade the passage of time. Join the artist Sunday, August 27 from 2 pm – 4 pm for a gallery talk in the main gallery.
Michael Davis is a watercolor realist inspired by the beauty and timelessness of the southern landscape. His passion for nature is reflected in his many paintings of the southeast from the Appalachian Mountains to the Gulf Coast.
Although he began painting in oils when he was young, he quickly developed a love for the beauty and detail he could capture with watercolor. While his current works in acrylic offer a new dimension to his work Michael remains primarily a watercolor realist and teaches watercolor classes and workshops throughout the southeast.
His paintings have received numerous fine art awards and have been featured in museum
exhibitions as well as solo exhibits at art centers and galleries. He was awarded Best of Show
Michael Davis
at the 2015 Fine Arts Exhibition at the Alabama Wildlife Federation and has been a repeat exhibitor in the Watercolor Society of Alabama’s Member Showcase. In 2016 his watercolor painting “Old Cotton Field Back Home” was juried into the WSA’s 75th National Exhibition.
Michael is a member of the Watercolor Society of Alabama, the Southern Watercolor Society, the Mountain Brook Art Association and his art is available through the Gulf Coast Arts Alliance Gallery in Gulf Shores, Alabama. His paintings hang in private and corporate collection throughout the United States.
