Michael Alan Wright Sr., 70, Tuscumbia, Alaabama, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015, at ECM Hospital.
Mike was a native of Michigan but lived in Tuscumbia since 1969. Mike has gone to the home he has been patiently waiting for from the time he became acquainted with his heavenly Father in 1995. He was a member of The Apostolic Lighthouse Church for 20 years.
He was a man of few words, but he could be strong and bold when it came to testifying about Jesus (his daddy) as he so often referred to Him. He sometimes acted childish yet presented a rock solid faith. Mike worked in the auto body repair field for over 45 years. His auto frame shop became his witnessing place. He never walked through a sanctuary without raising his hands and a praise on his lips.
He served in the Navy during Vietnam and received Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon. After serving six years, he decided it wasn’t for him. He got out in San Francisco where he met the lady that became his wife for 48 years, Margie Bratcher Wright.
Funeral service will be today, 2 p.m., at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, with Bobby Martin and Travis Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until 2 p.m.
Other survivors include his children, Yvonne (Farrell) Shankle, Renee (George) Rickard, and Michael Wright Jr.; sisters, Carol Ann (Rick) Romley, of Arizona, Sandra Lee Wright, of Michigan, and Sidne (Tony) Severin-Gueli, of Arizona; granddaughter, Olivia Shankle (Abdullah) Alwafi; and several nieces and nephews.
