Michael Akers, age 67, of Empire, passed away December 10, 2021. He is preceded in death by his father, John “Bill” William Akers; mother, Emma Mae Motte; brothers, Charles “Bull” Akers, Wayne Norris Akers; sisters, Sandy Darlene Akers and Kathy Lynn Bates. Michael is survived by his son Michael Shane Akers(Amanda); brother Stanley Akers; sisters, Charlotte Simmons and Patricia Motte; eight grandchildren; seven great-grand children as well as several nieces, nephews and many other family members. Michael was a fan of Alabama football. He enjoyed riding his Goldwing motorcycle with his brother and fishing with his son. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 11 am in the New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service time. Interment at Empire Memorial Cemetery will follow the chapel service. Bishop Bruce LeVan officiating.
