A Graveside Funeral service and Interment for Mevaline “Sis” McCaghren, 90, will be Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Hartselle Memory Gardens with Geoff Halbrooks officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. No Visitation is scheduled.
Mevaline McCaghren, better known as “Sis”, passed from this life on July 9, 2026. She was born to George and Thelma Burchell on June 7, 1936.
She was a graduate of Danville High School and married her high school sweetheart, Billy McCaghren, in 1956. They were together for 64 years until his passing in 2020.
Sis was a gifted decorator and floral designer for many years at the Joe Roberts Store, but her greatest joy came from her family. She had a large extended family who knew her as “Aunt Sis” and later “Nannie” to her grandchildren. She will be forever missed.
Preceding her in death were her husband- Billy McCaghren, her parents, a sister- Merle Roberts, and a grandson-in-law- Matthew Vinzant.

Daughter – Melva Brown (Bobby),
Son – George McCaghren (Renee),
Three Grandsons- Adam Brown (Dianna), Hayden McCaghren (Ally), and Bebo McCaghren,
Two Granddaughters- Heather Vinzant and Kathryn Wood,
Seven Great Grandchildren – Jack Wood, Blake Wood, Isla Brown, Cooper Brown, Audrey McCaghren, Griff McCaghren, and Canaan Vinzant.
Brothers- Bud Burchell (Sherry) and
Jim Burchell (Denise),
Sister – Jerry McGaugh (Joe).
Pallbearers will be Adam Brown, Hayden McCaghren, Bebo McCaghren, Kevin Long, Mark Roberts, and Chuck Roberts.
