Melvin Vance WhiteSr., 81, resident of Kerr Hill Road in Lynnville, died Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at NHC-Maury Regional Transitional Care Center.

A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Pegram with full military honors. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements and condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Born October 8, 1936, in Dallas, Maine, he was the son of the late Alvah Olando White and the late Unis Bertie Bachelder White. Mr. White served in the United States Army from 1956-1979, where he retired as Master Sergeant.

Survivors include his children, Gerhart Melvin White; Robert Peter White; Rose Erna (Philip) Foster; and Melvin (Mary) White, Jr.; former wife, Erna Schopf White; siblings, Berton; Eugene; Margaret; Montell; Kenneth; and Hellen; step children, Ushi; Rica; and Moni; and several great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Roselett; Leanna; and Cecil.
