Melvin O’Neal Scott, age 83, of Leighton died Wednesday, November 18, 2015. His family will receive friends Saturday, 6-8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Sunday at 3:30 in the funeral home chapel with burial following in Shaw Cemetery.
Melvin was a Colbert County native and owner/operator of 101 Handi Stop and 101 Auction.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Ruth Scott and son Michael Scott.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years; Carolyn Scott, daughters; Pamela Burt (Connie) and Elizabeth Gonzalez (Jose).
Pallbearers are Benny Letsinger, Jose Gonzalez, Jose Perez, Rudy Rivera, Eddie White, Mark White, Stanley Zills and Chris Smith.
Honorary Pallbearers are Guy Wilson, Merle Simpson, Connie Burt, Kevin Bogue and Andy Bottoms.
Melvin’s family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Cottage of the Shoals and to a special friend, Shirley Moreland and family.
