Melvin L. Watson, Sr., age 65, of Town Creek, died Tuesday, May 28, 2013. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. His funeral service will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Milton Chaney and Danny Willingham officiating. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.
Mr. Watson was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Watson; parents, Frank and Alice Watson; and sisters, Bertha Thrasher and Lucy Watson.
He is survived by his son, Melvin Watson, Jr. of Muscle Shoals, AL; daughters, Melissa Watson of Town Creek, AL, Marie Watson of Muscle Shoals, AL, and Kim Bets of Pensacola, FL; brother, Chris Watson; sisters, Shelby Mitchell, Sharon Hyde, Joan Gower, and Darlene Woods; grandchildren, Mark Kimbrough, Ashley Betz, Britney Honan, Timothy Hand, Justin Watson, Stephanie Watson, Lucas Nims, and Clayton Turrentine; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chris Watson, Justin Watson, Timothy Hand, Junior Mitchell, Eric Trousdale, and Frank Lawrence.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Clayton Turrentine, Mark Kimbrough, and Keith Nichols.
