Rev. Melvin C. Hinton Jr., age 71, of Merritt Island, Fla., formally Florence, passed away on April 4, 2013. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Sheffield Oakwood Cemetery. In the event of inclement weather, Services will be held at Elkins Funeral Home Chapel of Florence. The Reverend John McKell will be officiating.
He was born on January 5, 1942 to Melvin and May (Blair) Hinton of Florence, Ala.
Melvin was a minister for the Christian Life Center. He also worked as a condo manager in Cocoa Beach. He was a member of the DAV and NRA.
Melvin is survived by his loving spouse, Brenda; son, John Robert Hinton and his wife Maureen of Port St. John; daughter, Daniele Hinton Lusk and her husband Michael of Antioch, Tenn.; sister, Martha Louise Legg of Norfolk, Virginia.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents.
