Melody Darlene McCollum Wellisley, age 62, a resident of Lewisburg, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Marshall Medical Center. She was the wife of Gary Wellisley.
A funeral service for Mrs. Wellisley will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Joel Hudson officiating. Entombment will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 3:00 – 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be members of the family. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born May 2, 1960, in Gadsden, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late William “Bill” and Juanita Carnes McCollum. She was the owner and operator of Melodys One Stop Book Shoppe in Columbia. Her hobbies included flowers, gardening, cooking, reading and she loved pets. She fiercely loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Jennifer Ellich of Mt. Pleasant, Heather (James) Hutchinson of Chapel Hill, TN and Trevor (Ashley) Wellisley of Columbia; grandchildren: Jada, Isabella, Elijah and Isaiah Ellich, Zooey and Hunter Hutchinson; siblings: Beverly (Tom) Ostrander of Flint, MI and her twin sister, Melinda (Michael) Herron of Chapel Hill, TN; nieces and nephews: Nicole (Jed) Jones, Taylor (Jake) Malinowski, Michael G (Lexy) Herron, Christina (Steve) Osika, Stephen (Zoe) McCollum, William “Tye” McCollum, Mallory Mae Kay, Stacey (David) Klein, William “Jordan” Ostrander and Rachel Ostrander.
She was preceded in death by her brothers: Homer “Stephen” McCollum and Darrell Vaughn McCollum.
