Melita Hicks Simmons, “Runnin Late”, was born July 28, 1973, and departed peacefully from this life Dec. 5, 2013, at her home in Rogersville. She cherished life with her loved ones and lived with “peace, harmony and love.” Melita was preceded in death by her Granny and Papa Parsons. She is survived by her parents, Helen Reeves, Charles Reeves and Ed Butler; husband of 22 years, Tony Simmons; children, Shana and Matt Burroughs, Trey and Mackenzie Hicks, and Kelley Simmons and Tiffany (Nathan) Simmons; grandchildren, Tyson, Koen, Dylan, Dakota, Aaden, Natalia, Sophia and Mason; and sisters, Mechelle (Sam) McGill and Melanie Phillips. There are also many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by Melita’s spiritual wisdom and advice. Her memory will live on and always be treasured in our hearts. The memorial service will be held Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at Rogersville Funeral Home. We will welcome all friends and family beginning at 5 p.m. Lou White Eagle will preside over the memorial at 7 p.m.
