Melissa Newell Hooie, 60, of Athens, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Huntsville Hospital. She was a graduate of Hueytown High School, attended University of Montevallo and worked at Regions Bank. She was a dog lover and enjoyed crafts.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 16th from 3 – 4:30 p.m. at Rogersville Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow in Cooper Cemetery with Morris Lentz officiating. Pallbearers will be Lee Hooie, Caleb Jones, Mike Wowk, Jeremy Hosier, Jimmy Rhodes and Talal Jazayerli.
Melissa was preceded in death by her parents, Billy & Wanda Newell. She is survived by her husband, Alan Hooie; sons, Hunter Hooie and Devin (Keli) Hooie; grandson, Avery Hooie.
