Mrs. Melissa Long Mason, 99, Cherokee,
died Friday, Sept. 21, 2012.
Funeral service for Mrs. Mason will be
noon Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at
Rutland Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church,
Lane Spring, Ala.
The body will be placed in the church one hour prior.
Burial will be in Rutland Chapel Cemetery, Lane Spring, Ala.
Mrs. Mason is survived by two sons, Samuel Long and John Mason (Patricia), both of Cherokee; six grandchildren, Trasena Burwell, Muscle Shoals, Ala., Gladys Long, Clayton, N.C., Norman Jean Pigford, Raleigh, N.C., Homer Dean Long, Aurora, Colo., Charles Ellis Long, Plainsville, Ind., Jerry Long, Richmond Ind.; 15 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Thompson and Son Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, is directing.
