Obituary of Melba Inez Bayne Melba Lowery Bayne, age 83, passed away on July 3, 2025, at North Alabama Specialty Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama. Born on December 12, 1941, Melba was a lifelong resident of Caddo, Alabama, where she was deeply rooted in the community and widely respected both personally and professionally.

Melba was the cherished mother of Jerry Bayne, Diane Darnell, Vickie Canterbury, and Gary Bayne (Jamie Leigh). She was a loving grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, who adored her family immensely. Melba was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Lowery Thurman; father, Farris Lowery; her beloved husband, Glendon Bayne; her son, Jerry Bayne and granddaughter, Nichole Nicholson.

Professionally, Melba was the proud owner of Bayne’s Grocery, a staple in the Caddo community. She also served as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, where she was known for her diligence and friendly demeanor. Her work ethic and commitment to her community were evident in every interaction.

An active member of the Caddo Congregational Church, Melba was deeply involved in church activities and formed many lasting relationships within her faith community. Her hobbies included traveling, playing cards with her friends, and most importantly, spending quality time with her family, which was her greatest joy.

Melba’s life was marked by her kindness, resilience, and the love she had for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.

A visitation for Melba will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. A celebration of life will follow at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Dancy’s Chapel Cemetery.
