Maysel Caroline Atchley, age 90, of Florence, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 10, from 10-11 a.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home chapel, with Brian Jarrett and Ronnie Pannell officiating.
Mrs. Atchley was a member of Jackson Heights Church of Christ. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and a loving wife to her husband of 61 years, John. Mrs. Atchley was a good Christian women who was a friend to many.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John David Atchley; parents, Charlie and Lillie Mae Epperson; and brother, Lucian Epperson.
She is survived by her children, Sarah Wynell Ardis (Jimmie) and Carl David Atchley (Debbie); brothers, C. L. Epperson, Durell Epperson and Hershall Epperson; sister, Lougenia Wilson; grandchildren, Jerolyn Ardis, Darryl Ardis (Melanie), Dr. David Atchley (Alisha), Carla Gillette (Kenton), Kelly Atchley (Dr. Lana Bates Atchley) and Ginger Crosson (Gary); and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. David McFall, Gentiva Hospice and a special thank you to the staff of Morningside Assisted Living of Sheffield.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Alabama Christian Children’s Home or St. Jude’s Hospital.
