Maybell Abbott Bohannon, age 101 of Estill Springs, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Tullahoma Life Care Center. She was born on May 1, 1922, in Winchester to the late Junius Theodore and Dessie Mae Abbott. A lifelong resident of Franklin County, her working career started at General Shoe in Cowan in September of 1941 and continued to the Winchester Hat Factory in the 1960s. Maybell married the love of her life, William Paul Bohannon, on December 21, 1946, and they were married for forty-four years until his death on April 2, 1991. Maybell was very active, and she enjoyed being outside, caring for her flowers, and a very large garden she planted each year. She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed having family and friends in her home. Maybell’s Christian faith was a great part of her life. She was a devoted member of West End Baptist Church in Tullahoma and attended regularly until she became a resident of the Life Care Center. She and her husband, William, made several trips to the Holy Land, and both read and studied the Bible daily. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Tipps, and Edna Mitchell; and brothers, Melvin Abbott, Charles Abbott, Leon Abbott, and William Abbott. Maybell is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who loved and adored her. Her example of a devoted wife and Christian has left a lasting memory of a faithful, well-lived life. Visitation will be from 11am-2pm on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment will be at Mt. Garner Cemetery.
