Herbert Bradford Profile Photo Herbert Alton Bradford, 96, of Moulton, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024 at his home. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 06, 2024 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Lawrence Funeral Home with Bro. Kenny Rogers and Bro. John Webb officiating. Burial will be at Old Bethel Cemetery.

Born on January 25, 1927 to the late Noah and Nancy Edgar Bradford, Alton graduated from Mount Hope High School in 1946 and was saved at an old-fashioned revival in August 1948. He then became a member of Old Bethel Baptist Church serving as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Clerk and Treasurer, and Sunday School Superintendent over the last 76 years. Along with his wife and son, Alton opened Lawrence Funeral Home in 1982 and proudly served his community for over 40 years. When not working at the funeral home, Alton could be found picking up pecans or working in his garden, growing corn, tomatoes, peppers and all sorts of vegetables.

Survivors include his children, Steve (Gail) Bradford, Boyce Bradford, Pam (Mike) Bryant; grandchildren, Barry (Nick) Uptain, Shane Uptain, Faith (Tony) Blankenship, Amy (Patrick) Terry, Brooke (Michael) Pennington, Courtney (Shannon) Sandlin, Brooke Bradford, Josh Bryant, Ashley (Clint) Sobie; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marie Bradford; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Alton was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Bradford; parents; granddaughter, Arminda Bradford; brothers, Issco, Eugene, Leroy, Thurman, Milton, Edward, and Glen Bradford; sisters, Mary Lou, Corrine, and Thelma Bradford and Marie Herston.

Pallbearers will be Michael Pennington, Patrick Terry, Shannon Sandlin, Easton Mitchell, Tony Blankenship, Rickey Bradford, Jude Bradford, Josh Bryant, Jimmy Looney.

The family extends special thanks to Hospice of the Valley in Decatur.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Old Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
